Microsoft now offers another  browser than Internet Explorer for Windows operating system users in Europe. So far, users of Windows operating system either XP, Vista or Windows 7 always gets the IE browser that is set in the operating system.

Microsoft gives the user a choice of browser in Europe. pop-up window will appear and give the user the opportunity to choose 12 other browsers.
BBC reported, pop-up window will appear starting this Monday, as part of the pop-ups related to Microsoft’s Windows Update system. Although prepared to update the user’s Windows XP, Vista and 7 but is expected not all OS users will get the notification.

OS users who do not get a notification, can directly visit the Windows Update site and run the command ‘Check for updates’ to get another software browser like Chrome, Mozilla, Safari, and Opera.

Besides that other browsers such as Sleipnir, Green Browser, Maxthon, Avant, Flock, K-Meleon, and Slim are also offered.

This offering do not make the Microsoft’s market go down. Until now, IE still dominates the market with 62 percent market share, while Firefox only 24 percent.

Researchers and computer experts in the United States claims to find weaknesses in any version of Windows software. Only with a simple code, Microsoft’s operating system will be toppled.

“A fairly simple code that can damage the Windows operating system, starting from Windows 2000 or above,” says director of technology at the company 2X Software Paul Gafa, as quoted by V3.
Gafa says, in the Windows OS network itself can be paved with a denial of service (DoS). Hack with this simple code can be made to the operating systems of Windows.

“These findings should be a concern of all of us. Even millions of computers in the world is a potential target to destroy. The weakness in this operating system allows DoS attack your computer and control the remote computer. Imagine when the hackers are able to turn on/off your computer every time, “Gafa said.

Because of these findings, Gafa hope Microsoft can make the patch as soon as possible to the operating systems.

According Gafa, there are weaknesses in some operating systems, like Windows 2000, Windows XP (and embedded), Windows Server 2003, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008, Windows 7, Windows 2008 R2.

According to V3, Microsoft is rumored to have been aware of this issues and would take further investigation to ensure about these weaknesses.

Microsoft will soon launch a new generation of Internet Explorer (IE), the IE9 next month.

Norwegian browser vendor, Opera, has just dropped their option on the Lars Boilesen as the new Opera’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), succeeding to the throne Jon von Tetzchner.

Boilesen who previously worked as Opera’s Chief Commercial Officer started taking the role as CEO earlier this week. Predecessor, Tetzchner, said that he had handed over the job to Boilesen and believe that his leadership will be followed even better by him.
“The important thing is, we have a regeneration. Boilesen comes to the Opera’s board last year, and his smart ideas are potential to take the CEO position. I really know him, he is a person that deserves with this position,” Tetzchner said, as quoted by ZDNet

Boilesen recorded has been in the world of sales and business development for 20 years. He had been a senior at various technology companies, including TANDBERG Data and Lego.

In the period 2000 to 2005, Opera trusted Boilesen as Vice President of Sales and Marketing Opera and became an important part of the company. But then in 2005, he had left the Opera and became CEO of Alcatel-Lucent in the Baltic region, before finally returning to Opera last year.
